TJ O’Connor from the RSA was in our school recently to talk to the children about road safety. All classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class have attended a presentation. TJ spoke to the children about the importance of keeping safe on the road when walking to school by foot/bike. He spoke about the importance of wearing seat belts in the car and on the school bus. He showed the children the Safe Cross Code on the whiteboard and they got to play games and partake in quizzes. He spoke in particular of the importance of using booster seats when travelling in a car, and to always wear your seatbelt. He discussed the rules of the road when cycling your bike and to always remember to wear a helmet.
Road Safety is an important part of the SPHE Curriculum.
Let’s hope the children from Ballyduff NS will always stay safe on the road !!
