A Chairde, we are delighted to be celebrating World Book Day in Ballyduff NS today. Over the last 25 years, World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading for children and young people. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading.
To mark this special day, the Infants dressed up as their favourite book character. We had a wide range of special visitors, from Hermione Granger to Belle and from Darth Vader to Woodie the cowboy. All the boys and girls looked fantastic! They each described their outfit and chosen characters for the class. Senior Infants then wrote about and illustrated their favourite book character, which will form part of our World Book Day display.
Each child in the school selected a book from this year’s World Book Day list of books, to bring home and enjoy!
