World Book Day 2024

 

A Chairde, we were delighted to celebrate World Book Day in Ballyduff NS. Over the years, World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading for children and young people. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading.

To mark this special day, the Infants dressed up as their favourite book characters. We had a wide range of special visitors, from Harry Potter to a Dragon and from a Mermaid to Little Red Riding Hood. All the boys and girls looked fantastic! They each got an opportunity to show off their costumes on the catwalk in the halla, and there was a large audience in attendance of parents, relatives and school pupils. Thank you to all who attended and helped organise this special event!

Each child in the school selected a book from this year’s World Book Day list of books, to bring home and enjoy!

3rd to 5th class attended a writing workshop in Listowel earlier in the school year, and were delighted to share the books they wrote with the younger classes on World Book Day. Mrs Rochford’s Class read to Mrs Corridan’s Class and Ms O’Connor’s Class read to Ms Lucid’s Class. This experience was enjoyed by all involved!
