Active School Week

Last week was a very busy week at school. The school was involved in lots of fun activities each and everybody enjoyed themselves.

Monday: The children were busy dancing as zumba instructor Padraig, kept everybody moving to the beat in the school hall.

Tuesday: Walk to School was a great success with the school community walking from the sports field and the creamery to converge on the school at 10 past 9. The children then experienced yoga classes in the school hall, which was very relaxing and enjoyable. The tug-of-war event was very enjoyable for all. The pupils displayed just how strong they were when they put the school staff through their places!

Wednesday: Wednesday was sports day which is an annual event in the school calendar. It was also the day of our accreditation visit for the Active School Flag. The day was an enormous success and we are pleased to say that we have been awarded the Active School Flag. Wednesday morning started with a disco in the yard, yard games, and the very popular bouncing castle. The races were a huge hit from the sack race to the egg and spoon. Children from First to Sixth Class were treated to a visit to the Ballyduff boxing club and enjoyed flavouring this sport.

Thursday: Thursday began with another Walk to School event. The Kerry Rose Sally Ann Leahy officially opened the Active Walk way. Athletics coach Paul from the Tralee Harriers club was onsite and the children participated in many athletic events both indoor and outdoor.

Friday: Friday was off to a flying start with the fun jersey run.
